Celebrate Your Successes!

During the pandemic, many published authors, including myself, realized that book marketing would be a challenge. We understood that book signings were crucial for gaining public recognition as authors. They provided an excellent opportunity to get our names out there, introduce people to our books, and engage with fans. Unfortunately, given the world’s situation at the time, I couldn’t personally interact with my readers and hear what they thought of the book. Witnessing the difficulties faced by authors in promoting their work, I decided to connect with fellow authors and exchange ideas. However, the question remained—how could I meet with them? That’s when I came up with the idea for The Relatable Voice podcast.

When the podcast started gaining popularity, I considered expanding its reach by starting a newsletter. The idea was to showcase our guests’ work and podcast interviews but shortly after, I realized that a newsletter wouldn’t provide enough space to feature all our guests. On the other hand, I also worried that we might not have enough content to fill a magazine. Despite these concerns, I decided to take a risk and convince my husband to help me create a magazine instead. Eager to do something creative himself, he happily agreed knowing he doesn’t really have a choice in the matter.

Our first issue featured the talented actress and model Kasia Pilewicz on the cover. This gave us great visibility, and the response was overwhelming. We received many emails from people who wanted to be featured in the magazine. Initially, I had planned to publish the magazine quarterly but because of the high demand, I decided to release an issue every month. We have maintained this monthly schedule for 24 consecutive months, and produced 24 beautiful issues.

As we celebrate our second year, I have reflected on my journey as a magazine publisher. How can we measure the magazine’s success beyond just the number of clicks? Last month, I took the time to revisit some articles and interviews we have published over the past two years. With this magazine, we have effectively promoted authors, actors, songwriters, screenwriters, and countless other remarkable creatives to a larger audience. It is important to note that our magazine is also free, allowing accessibility to everyone at no cost. I also considered the events we have sponsored, such as The BookFest. Additionally, I looked at the positive reviews we have received from readers and collaborators.

After taking a moment to reflect back, I have come to the conclusion that yes, we have successfully built a community book-lovers needed. Today, I am celebrating the small steps I took three years ago when I first published a book, started The Relatable Voice podcast, and launched this magazine. Often, we become so fixated on achieving the next goal that we overlook the victories we’ve had along the way. Whether it is the satisfaction of overcoming a health issue, reconnecting with a loved one, or simply enjoying a beautiful day, each success deserves recognition and celebration.

Let this be the reminder to take a moment to reflect on your own life. What small successes have you recently celebrated? Perhaps it is a personal achievement, a new hobby you have taken up, or even just a moment of tranquility on a busy day. Whatever it may be, embrace it, celebrate it, and share it with those around you. By doing so, you not only uplift yourself but also inspire others to acknowledge and cherish their own triumphs. Let us celebrate life’s victories, no matter how significant, and remind ourselves and each other that every step forward, no matter how small, is a step worth celebrating.

Here’s to the power of your successes and the joy they bring to our lives!
