One day in class, one of Vivien’s students was describing a friend’s medical problems and it seemed that every single organ was struggling. “Oh,” Vivien heard herself saying, “it sounds like he has a terrible relationship with his mother.”
“Where did that come from?” Vivien wondered to herself, as soon as she said these words, but immediately the student responded: “Yes, that’s exactly right, he does have a disastrous relationship with his mother, and has had, all his life.”
Where indeed, did Vivien get this perception from? When Vivien was 18 years old, studying Psychology, she learned about research that showed a revealing pattern about growth in children. In orphanages, and other such institutional settings, the child whose bed was closest to the entrance of the room, thrived more than the other children who were in the same dormitory, under the same care. The researchers concluded that the reason for this, was that the staff were inadvertently paying more attention to the child in this position – greeting them both first and last when coming and going – and touching them more, too. This piece of information stuck with Vivien throughout her life, shaping her career as an Energy Healing Practitioner, as she continued to make sense of how love is an essential nutrient in life.
Then, in the last 14 years, Vivien received another significant lesson regarding love. One of her students had the sad experience of losing a grandchild on the same day that she was born. “Why would a soul come to earth for such a brief period?” Vivien asked herself, the universe and even the baby’s spirit. And the baby’s spirit answered: “Because my spirit needed to heal from a lifetime without love, so I was born to a family who would always remember me, and would send me the love that I need to restore me.”
That was a WOW of an insight. Interestingly enough, two of Vivien’s teachers wrote books with “love” in the title, namely Only Love is Real by Brian Weiss and Love is in the Earth by Melody. So, before that, Vivien had understood that we, as humans, receive love from Nature and other Beings in the etheric realm, but had not really clicked that we, as humans, send love to the etheric realm too. It was fortunate that the baby had told Vivien this, because just a short while later her own son crossed over. The loss was severe, and for a while, Vivien felt disoriented. Then, she remembered that she wasn’t supposed to stop loving her son, just because he had died, but on the contrary, she was still his mother and he still needed her love as much as ever. Once she felt allowed to let her love flow again, Vivien was able to begin a healthy adjustment to her new reality.
But what about feeling love? That was another insight that Vivien was destined to realize. As part of her midlife crisis, Vivien was feeling grumpy about not receiving enough attention and not feeling loved enough. “That’s objectively ridiculous,” she told herself, “Look at all the attention you get, you can’t possibly be serious about this.”
“But I don’t feel it,” she whined. “Well, that’s your own fault then. You’ve put a protective wall around yourself, because of old relationships gone wrong, and you’re just not letting yourself feel the love that others are sending you.”
This was true. Because Vivien had experienced some difficult relationships, she had cut herself off from feeling the incoming energies, both bad … and good. Since that day on, Vivien has consciously encouraged herself to open up again, to be more receptive. Yes! That’s right! Let’s feel the love!
